Public Skating 2025-2026
Please note that the Southdale Arena has added another weekday hour of seniors public skating.
Effective Monday September 15th our Southdale Seniors (with a valid membership) can skate on the West Rink Mondays from 12 P.M. – 1 P.M. and Wednesdays from 12 P.M. – 1 P.M.
There will be NO public skating on October 13th/2025, December 22nd, 24th, 29th & 31st and February 16th/2026
Enjoy, as the Southdale Board of Directors puts the “community back in community center”.

Line Dancing (Sunday Nights)

Join us for an hour of Line dancing coming back to Southdale Sunday nights 6:30pm to 7:30pm – starting January 25th, 2026 – February 15th, 2026 for four weeks. I’m quite excited about this as i (Regina) just returned from Arizona and have brought back some topnotch line dances called “Glass of Wine” what can be better than that! All are welcome including singles and couples. Some dances can be done optionally in couple form. Hope to see you there!

Classes are now confirmed for 2025-26! We are excited to have all instructors returning to Southdale for the coming season.
Southdale Community Centre is committed to offering programs to the community. It is important for our Southdale Seniors members to be able to stay active under a safe environment for all participants.
Membership required for all multiple drop in classes. NEW – Classes are available in various packs of 5, 10 or 20.
20 classes – $120
10 classes – $70
5 classes – $40
All packages allow attendance at any exercise program and classes are only deducted when attending. No pre-registration or commitment required. NEW – Single drop in class with no membership $10 only available in person on the day of attending class.
Classes will carry over to the next season with the renewal of membership in the following year.

This chair fitness class improves muscle strength, flexibility and joint health making daily activities easier and help to prevent falls. Low impact workouts enhance cardiovascular health, boost mood and increases energy levels. Come join us and get “boosted”!
NEW! – BACK HEALTH “Oh my aching back” with Regina – Tuesdays 12:00pm

Have you ever caught yourself saying this? A specially designed program for back pain sufferers to help mobility for issues such as arthritis, spinal stenosis, stiffness and sciatica. Targeting the spine, the lower back and sciatic areas with slow easy movements to help improve, loosen and strengthen the back and adjoining muscles. Mat work involved.
CARDIO with Regina – Mondays 9:30am

This class combines stand-up cardio with toning that utilizes weights, bands and other equipment for upper and lower body strength done in a chair. If you are looking for an exciting class, this is it! If you have any health issues, we can work around it. Best music in town and smiles are guaranteed. Our motto is mental health, physical health and social health for a well-rounded lifestyle.
YOGA with Tirtha – Mondays 10:30, Wednesdays, Fridays 9:30am

This class is open to all levels of yoga, whether you are a beginner, have taken classes before or simply want to take another class. Enjoy a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere while learning body alignment, relaxation techniques and more.

CHAIR YOGA with Regina – Wednesdays 11:00am

Chair Yoga is practice and meditation in seated poses with the chair as a balance point. A melding together of breath and movement with the aid of a chair. It challenges the mind through strengthening, stretching, relaxation and breathing. It is recommended for the less agile seniors particularly for those with arthritis, osteoporosis and recovery from illness or surgery. Come out and join us for this exciting class!
IMPROVING HEART, HEALTH & FLEXIBILITY with Crystal – Mondays 12:00pm, Thursdays 1:45pm

This class will not be overly intrusive on cardiovascular exercise but will work on getting the heart rate up to preserve health and longevity. Followed by stretching to promote less muscle pain/tightness and increase flexibility. All ages welcome!
MAT PILATES with Crystal – Wednesdays 12:30pm Friday 11:00am
Location – (Wednesday – Hall) (Friday – MPR A)

This class is strictly body weight and on a mat. This focuses on building core strengthening and full-body strength. This is NOT for women only but men too! Core strengthening is crucial for aging. All ages welcome!
STRENGTH TRAINING with Crystal – Tuesdays 10:30am, Thursdays 9:30am

Experience resistance training using free weights, Dynabands, balls and various other equipment. This class includes warm-up, cardio, muscle strengthening and endurance and cool down.
GENTLE FIT with Regina- Thursdays 11:00am

This class is for seniors that are just beginning or continuing a mild fitness class incorporating gentle cardio, stretches, upper and lower body work, balance, and emphasis on posture. We welcome seniors with some issues like arthritis or joint pain/surgeries as exercises can be done in a chair or if comfortable standing up. Don’t be shy if you have balance issues or are using a walker or a wheel chair, we can accommodate you too! Our motto is healthy mind, healthy body and healthy social engagement through exercise! This is the key to a healthy active life.
SIT 2 B FIT with Regina – Mondays 11:00am

For seniors with some mobility and balance challenges. A fun-filled chair program with components of stretch, strength and some aerobics with energizing music. Live well, age well is our motto!
LINE DANCING with Noreen – Fridays BEGINNERS 11:00am; ADVANCED 1:00pm
