Southdale Community Centre is part of the BoniVital Baseball Association.  Together, we provide each player the opportunity to play baseball in a supportive and rewarding environment that emphasizes fun and skill development at a level that fits the player’s interest and ability.  In order to play baseball all players will require their own batting helmet and glove. Having their own bat tends to be a preference for U11 and older as is wearing non-metal baseball cleats.

The baseball season starts early May, Rally Cap and 9U finish the last week of June, U11 will have their play-off weekend in early July.  For U13 teams and older, please check the league end dates and playoff dates here: Bonivital Minor Baseball Association – Winnipeg, Manitoba

Tryouts for AAA and AA teams will occur April 6-10, 2026 and as soon as those teams are formed, the Community Club teams A teams will be created.  If your player is planning to tryout for AA or AAA, they must register for the season and for try outs by March 6, 2026.  Please see below for age groups, registration fee and nights of play:

The Rally Cap Program is baseball’s initiation program and is designed to enhance players’ and coaches’ first experience with the game for players 4-7 years old. Teams are typically made up of 6 players.  Games are played in various diamonds in the BoniVital catchment.  You have a choice when registering to select which nights you would like to play (Monday/Wednesday evenings or Tuesday/Thursday evenings). Games start at 6:30 pm and run until 7:30.

All Rally Cap players will participate in the BoniVital Jamboree on Saturday June 20, 2026 at Glenwood and Champlain Community Centres.  This is a fun-filled day of activities, baseball games, food and celebration.

For more information on the Rally Cap program please visit the Baseball Manitoba website at:Baseball Manitoba : Website by RAMP InterActive

  • 9U (players born in 2017 & 2018)

9U game length is established by time, not by innings. Each game night starts with a 30-minute practice followed by a 60-minute game (typically this is a 3-5 inning game).  Some rules are modified in 9U to encourage player development.  You have a choice when registering to select which nights you would like to play (Monday/Wednesday evenings or Tuesday/Thursday evenings).

For those who have played 9U in the past, there may be some changes to the format of this program this year as directed by Baseball Manitoba, more information will be shared when we receive it.

Community 9U teams will participate in the BoniVital Jamboree on Saturday June 20, 2026 at Glenwood and Champlain Community Centers.  This is a fun-filled day of activities, baseball games, food and celebration.

  • 9U Advanced League Pilot Program (players born in 2017 & 2018)

New for 2026, advanced 9U will offer structured baseball for players with two or seasons of baseball knowledge and previous team play experience. Advanced Grand Slam will be fast paced, follow 9U rules, and be an alternative to the non-competitive play.  Included in fees will be the expectation that teams will attend at least one tournament (Warren, Lowe Farm, Altona) to further develop skills.  Teams will be eligible for a spot at the Provincial Jamboree in July, hosted by Baseball Manitoba.  Advanced 9U teams will not participate in the BoniVital Jamboree in June.

Teams will be hosted at community centers with 9U diamonds and will play on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Teams will be balanced based on previous play and age.  Friend requests can be made but cannot be guaranteed.

As this is a pilot program this year, registration will be capped at 50 registrations.

    • 18U A ball has games on varying nights.  BoniVital players are grouped together onto teams based on the number of players who register.  Typically, players from the same community club are kept together.  Games and practices will be held at Maginot, Provencher and Whittier Park baseball diamonds.

*As per Baseball Manitoba regulations, girls can play an extra year/be an over aged player at each group starting at 11U.

 Formation of “A” Teams

All players must register at their home community centre; however, it does not guarantee that you will play on a team at your community centre.  Team formation is based on the number of players in each age group registering at a community centre as well as what size baseball diamonds that community centre has.  When there are not enough players from a community centre, or there is not a diamond at the community center for the age group to play on, those players will be moved together onto a team at a neighboring community centre.

We allow for players to make two friend requests when registering for baseball.  We make all efforts to honor at least one of the friend requests when both players are from the same community centre. When the request involves players from different community clubs we cannot guarantee the request.

Coaches and Parent Volunteers

Coaches are the cornerstone of the sport experience for young players and thus essential for the success of youth sport programs in our community. If you are interested in volunteering as a coach or assistant coach in 2026, please contact your baseball convenor.  Ideally, we like to have three coaches willing to volunteer from each team.  It makes the practices and games much more active and “many hands definitely make light work”.  Training, support and mentorship is offered to coaches to help you and your team have a successful season.

If you have any questions about Baseball, please contact the Baseball Convenor: Brie Hirshberg at
